We’re not just growing hops—we’re crafting character. Our mission is simple: to deliver the freshest, most aromatic, and flavour-packed hops direct from bine to brewery.
We’re obsessed with quality, driven by science, and fiercely committed to helping brewers create unforgettable beers. From soil to sip, every hop we grow is nurtured with precision, harvested when aroma is cranking and oils are at their peak, and dried on-site within 24 hours to ensure the hops you get smell just as good as the day they were picked.
It’s equal parts science, instinct and pure hustle - but when we finally take that first sip of whatever brilliance our brewers create? Worth it. Every time.
Our Story
Bold River Hops was born out of a deep love for craft beer, an ingrained respect for the land, and a relentless pursuit of perfection. Nestled in the heart of New Zealand’s premier hop-growing regions—Nelson and North Canterbury—our farms harness a magic balance of climate, soil, and expertise to produce hops that hit different.
We’re a family-run operation, powered by learnings from generations of growers who have lived and breathed this craft. But we’re not stuck in the past. We embrace cutting-edge agronomy and processing techniques to ensure every cone bursts with intensity. It’s this fusion of tradition and innovation that makes our hops a game-changer in the brewery.
Our Hops
Not all hops are created equal.
We specialise in high-impact aroma and flavour—bold tropicals, dank resins, citrus explosions, and everything in between. Each variety we grow is hand-selected for its ability to bring depth, complexity, and balance to a brew.
From crowd favourites like Nelson Sauvin and Riwaka, to specialty varieties like Nectaron - we’ve got you covered.
All of our hops are available fresh and dried whole-cone to our locals, and as T90 pellets to our brewers both at home and across the globe. Hops are picked and dried on the same day in a purpose-built kiln on-site, and then processed into T90s at NZ’s market leading processing facility.
